Climbing the Walls in San Jose

The Opera San Jose production of Carmen was so wonderful, that I decided to see it a second time. The first time I attended a matinee, but for the second viewing, I opted for Friday night. I don't like to drive late at night on curvy roads to get home, so I stayed at a downtown hotel. The art in the room was quite interesting, a person literally climbing the walls. There were two of these wall sculptures.

The second performance was better than the first. Most likely because the Don José I saw in the matinee was a substitute. Last night's performance featured Noah Stewart as Don José. It was obvious that he and Nikola Printz (Carmen) were made to perform together.

Although the theater was not as full as it has been pre-pandemic, audiences are returning. It is wonderful to be back in the theater again!
