Journey at Home Day 48
Or when the grocery store sells you a bag of lemons for a very good price, make lemonade. That's exactly what I did today. I used a recipe that instructed me to boil water and then steep the rinds and the pulp for 10 minutes. Then I added that to 1 cup of lemon juice and 1 cup of simple syrup. The steeped rinds give the lemonade a nice tang.

I also had a few pounds of apples left from a bag I recently purchased. I used them to make apple crisp, which is one dessert that does not require eggs, yeast, or milk—items I don't have. The topping, shown in the photo, is a mixture of oats, walnuts, cinnamon, butter, and brown sugar. Apple crisp cries out for ice cream, but alas, I have none.
