Today's daylight is so filtered due to smoke in the upper atmosphere that I keep thinking there is a solar eclipse outside. There is a marine layer below the smoke layer, and this arrangement gives everything an eerie orange cast.
The sun is so heavily filtered that I think one could look directly at it. I opted instead to point my camera at it and frame the shot using the camera's pullout LCD display. Just a few days ago, during the heat wave, the sun was burning hot and giving its usual blue cast on things. Today, it feels that the sun is just about to set.
