Bread

Journey at Home Day 70

Yeast and flour became scare soon after the shelter-in-place order was in effect. I always have plenty of flour, baking soda, and baking powder on hand, but not yeast. We typically don't have bread at home except for special dinners. As much as I love home made bread, I appreciate having normal weight more. Bread adds to calories, for me.

The last time I went to the grocery store, the bakery was selling containers of yeast that they use, so I picked up some. Today, I unearthed a recipe that I have not followed in more than a decade—onion herb bread from Vegetarian Epicure. It's easy because you mix and rise it in the same bowl. After one rise, punch it down and plop it into a bread pan for a second, but short, rise. Then bake it. Dill, rosemary, and onion make this a very yummy bread.
