Chore Day

Updated: Apr 29, 2020

Journey at Home Day 43

It is remarkable how few chores I've done in the past 43 days, other than cooking. Now that it's spring, things are starting to pile up and the yard is getting overgrown. I see daily chores in my future for the next phase of sheltering. Today I cleaned the refrigerator, washed the back porch, and got the cushions for the outdoor furniture out of storage. I also ventured down the hill for more supplies.

I could have stayed home another two weeks and lived off what's in the pantry, but I like fresh fruit and vegetables. I also like the excuse to get out of the house, even though I'm wearing a mask and gloves and not really interacting with anyone. Today, I went to Target and found everything I wanted except yeast and eggs. They even had bleach and toilet paper. Now I have a clean, full refrigerator (there is stuff on the door) and my vegetable and fruit baskets that I keep on the counter are overflowing with tomatoes, onions, lemons, oranges, apples, and garlic.

It's time to hit the recipe books! Cauliflower curry? I found yogurt so that I can make raita for the curry. Pickled beans? Even though I didn't find yeast, I found bake-at-home focaccia, freezable and enough for 4 meals.
